Frequently asked questions.
How to Prepare for Your Home Visit:
Timing & Tools:
I aim to be right on time, but since babies can be a bit unpredictable, I might arrive within 10-15 minutes of our scheduled appointment. I’ll bring along everything we might need, plus my computer, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Dress:
Get comfy! Dress both you and your baby in easy-to-remove clothes. We’ll be weighing your little one in just their diaper, so cozy, easy-to-take-off pajamas are perfect for today. Comfort is key for both of you!
Baby:
Try to have your baby neither too full nor too hungry. Arrange earlier feedings so they’re likely to be ready to eat within the first 30 minutes of our visit. If needed, a small top-up to keep everyone content is fine—no one’s happy when they’re hungry!
The goal is to catch your baby feeding when they’re ready and comfortable, so let’s make that happen together!
Location:
In-home visits are all about your comfort. I’ll set up wherever you and your family feel most at ease—whether that’s on your bed or a comfy spot on the couch. Just a small area for my bag and computer is all I need. No extra preparations required!
Milk:
If you’re having any trouble with milk supply, have whatever you use to feed your baby ready. If you’re a pumping mom, please have your pump and accessories handy so we can tackle any challenges together.
Siblings, Pets & Support People:
Family life is a whole adventure, and I’m here for all of it! I love meeting pets and kids—just wait until I tell you about Scribbles the cat! Support people are wonderful and I’m happy to have them join us during the visit.
If you can, it’s helpful to have pets occupied elsewhere so we can focus on you and your baby. But don’t stress—if an older sibling needs to be on your lap or a dog wants to bark, that’s perfectly okay. I’m here to support you without adding any extra stress.
